This Privacy Policy applies to the Calo AI - Food Calorie Tracker app for mobile devices, developed by Helping Hand Network, and offered as a Freemium service. The app is intended for use "AS IS."
Definitions
User: Refers to the individual accessing or using the Service.
Service Provider: Refers to Helping Hand Network, the developer of this application.
Application: Refers to the app named "Calo AI - Food Calorie Tracker" available for download on mobile devices.
Personal Data: Any information that can identify a specific individual.
Information Collection
The Application may collect certain information automatically when you download and use it. This includes:
- Your device’s Internet Protocol address (IP address)
- The pages of the Application you visit, the time and date of your visit, and the duration of your session
- The operating system of your mobile device
- Crash reports via Firebase Crashlytics
- App analytics via Google Analytics for Firebase
- Device model and hardware information (for app optimization)
- Advertising identifiers for personalized ads via Google AdMob
Personal Information: We collect health-related data such as height, weight, gender, activity level, and birth year only to calculate daily calorie needs and provide personalized fitness guidance. This information is stored only on the user’s device, is never uploaded to our servers, is never sold, and is not shared with third parties. Once the app is uninstalled or the user chooses ‘Delete Data Permanently’, this personal information is deleted and cannot be restored.
Device Information: We generate and store an app-specific identifier (randomly generated within the app) to maintain user history across reinstallations. This identifier is used strictly for functionality and never shared with third parties. It is not linked to device hardware ID, and never used for advertising or tracking outside the app.
Media & Files: Images selected from gallery or captured through the camera are used only for calorie tracking. These images remain on the user’s device. Additionally, to enable recovery if the user reinstalls the app, a temporary encrypted copy of the selected images is stored on our secure servers for up to 30 days and then permanently deleted. The app never shares these images with third parties.
Important Notes
- The app does not collect precise location data from your device.
- The App does not share, or sell your photos, or personal information.
- All media files remain 100% private. Private means that no other user, advertiser, or third party can access your images.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- To provide core app features such as image tracking and calories calculations.
- To store history so users can access and manage their tracked records even after reinstalling the app.
- To allow users to delete their history data anytime within the app.
- Analyze app usage and improve performance
- Display ads through Google AdMob (personalized or non-personalized based on your settings)
- Advertisements are displayed only to free users. Premium subscribers receive a fully ad-free experience.
- Monitor crashes and improve stability using Firebase Crashlytics
- Measure engagement using Google Analytics for Firebase
- Communicate with you regarding app updates, promotions, and support
- Evaluate usage patterns for future enhancements
In-App Purchases & Premium Subscription:
The Application offers optional premium subscription plans that provide enhanced features, including unlimited food image tracking and a completely ad-free experience.
Free users may have limited daily usage and may see advertisements. Premium users can access unlimited tracking features and will not see any advertisements.
All payments for subscriptions are processed securely through Google Play Billing. The Application does not collect, store, or have access to users’ payment information such as credit or debit card details.
Subscription management, cancellation, and renewal are handled directly through the user’s Google Play account settings.
Permissions Required
Our app requires the following permissions for functionality:
- CAMERA To capture photos within the app.
- READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE To pick images from the gallery (Android 12 and lower).
- WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE To save files/images (Android 12 and lower).
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES To access gallery images (Android 13+).
Data Storage & Security
The app temporarily stores user history for providing recent activity tracking. This data may be automatically cleared after a certain period or upon user deletion.
Users can permanently delete all their data (including personal details, calorie history, and photos) from within the app using the "Delete Data Permanently" option. Once deleted, this data cannot be restored.
Data (images and records) is stored securely and under user control.
All images stored temporarily on secure servers are encrypted and accessible only for the purpose of recovery. They are never shared with third parties. Images are stored on the user’s device, and a temporary encrypted copy remains on secure servers for up to 30 days to allow recovery if the app is reinstalled. After 30 days, these images are permanently deleted.
We do not share or sell your personal data to third parties.
Your Choices
Users can delete their stored history anytime directly from the app.
Users can permanently delete all stored data (personal details, images, and records) from within the app at any time.
Once data is permanently deleted, it is immediately removed from the device and cannot be recovered.
If you uninstall the app and reinstall within a short period, your tracked history may be restored automatically.
If you uninstall the app, your personal information (such as height, weight, gender, activity level, and birth year) will be deleted and not restored, even if you reinstall the app. Only your tracked history (images and calorie records) may be restored within the retention period.
Third-Party Services
We may transmit anonymized, aggregated data to trusted third-party services to help improve the application. These services have their own privacy policies, which you should review:
- Google Play Services
- AdMob
- Google Analytics for Firebase
- Firebase Crashlytics
We may disclose user-provided and automatically collected information in the following cases:
- As required by law or legal process
- When necessary to protect our legal rights or user safety
- With trusted service providers acting on our behalf, under confidentiality agreements
Google Play Billing is used to process in-app purchases and subscriptions. Payment information is handled directly by Google and is not accessible to the Application or the Service Provider.
Opt-Out Rights
You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the application at any time using your mobile OS or app marketplace’s standard uninstall process. Additionally, you can permanently delete all stored data (including images, calorie history, and personal details) from within the app using the “Delete Data Permanently” option before uninstalling.
Data Retention Policy
Images selected for calorie tracking are stored on the user’s device and a temporary encrypted copy is stored on secure servers for up to 30 days to enable recovery if the user reinstalls the app. After 30 days, these images are automatically and permanently deleted. Users can also permanently delete all images and related data anytime from within the app. If a user chooses the ‘Delete Data Permanently’ option, all temporary server copies are also deleted immediately, without waiting for the 30-day period.
Personal information provided by the user is stored only on the device and is permanently deleted when the app is uninstalled. This information is not stored on our servers and therefore cannot be restored after reinstallation.
Children’s Privacy
We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under the age of 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal data, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided data, please contact us at helpinghand134@gmail.com.
